Support, help and advice for early years professionals
Between them, Paula James and Rose Eacock have a wealth of hands on experience and qualifications in the Early Years sector which has been built up over many years. With their individual areas of interest and expertise, they are able to offer advice and assistance in all areas and make a formidable team.
Paula and Rose understand the needs of those who work in Early Years and are passionate about supporting them. They have spent many years supporting other settings whilst running their own outstanding setting in Herefordshire and over the years they have watched the support offered to practitioners and their settings decrease due to funding cuts and lack of input from local authorities.
So in 2019 Shape was born to offer up to date help, support and advice to anyone working in the Early Years.
In that same year the first SHAPE Event was held, bringing prominent Early Years guest speakers and exhibitors to an audience who would not normally be able to access this type of event. It was an incredibly successful day and we are looking forward to the next one.
Whether it’s a training need, business advice, practical support or a friendly ear, supporting Early Years practitioners is at the heart of what we do so get in touch.
If you’ve got a problem and nobody else can help, maybe you should call……..The Shape Team………da da da da da da (insert A-Team theme tune here).
Taking time out to raise my son and twin daughters left me severely lacking in confidence when it came to returning to work.
A part time vacancy at my children’s pre-school gave me the opportunity to return to the workforce and feel valued again. With amazing support and the ability to train whilst I was working, a part time job quickly evolved into full time and before long, becoming deputy manager.
I have been lucky enough to take on the role of SENCO and over the years have been blown away by just how rewarding a role it can be. My thirst for knowledge has meant that throughout my career keeping up with CPD has been essential and allowed me to expand my knowledge around SLCN allowing me to deliver Early Talk Boost and POPAT sessions in setting.
I believe in the importance of children learning through both play and real life experiences and actively use my training and skills to promote outdoor learning, Forest School experiences and hands on cookery sessions.
Over 10 years after my youngest children moved on from pre-school, I am still working in Early Years driven by a passion to give our young people the best possible outcomes.
I am a strong advocate for those who work in the Early Years sector and am committed to supporting them.
I started working in the early years sector in 2001 when foot and mouth devasted the area and the local setting was going to close. I volunteered to help staff the charity preschool through the crisis and never left.
I have been Manager at an Ofsted rated Outstanding setting for the past 10 years seeing it move from a pack away setting in the community centre to a portacabin which we purchased through fund raising and grants.
My expertise is the paperwork, policies, legislation and people management side of running a setting through challenging, as well as the good, times and I have worked with other settings helping to raise standards so that they achieve Outstanding Ofsted. I still work in the preschool room each week too. I am passionate about raising standards in early years education and working with teams to promote best practice.
Because of my ongoing experience as a practitioner and manager of a setting I appreciate and understand the challenges you face daily.
